Welcome to the Department of Sociology and Anthropology.

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is one of the largest departments in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Maseno University with an academic staff of 15, approximately 1000 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Apart from academic work, the department is firmly in research for knowledge generation and community service.

·     The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is one of the biggest departments in Maseno University, offering a number of courses ranging from Certificate to Doctorate levels. The Department has been in existence since 1999. Initially, the department was offering a Degree course in Sociology alone but in 2006, BA Anthropology was introduced. The department has since grown to include other competitive undergraduate courses such as BA Criminology and BA in Gender Studies.
