These programmes give opportunity to the many people who have talent and interest in Textile and Fashion design, Interior Design and Fine Art and have not attained the basic university entry requirement to study these subjects. The programmes provide a window of opportunity for learners to realize their dream of attaining a certificate in any of the three through value addition of content.  The Department of Art and Design therefore offers certificate courses in Textile and Fashion Design, Interior Design Fine Art leading to the award of Maseno University certificate.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission applicants should: 

1. Have a minimum of D+ at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) or equivalent; 
2. Have professional body examination in music e.g. Association Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM), TRINITY, University of South Africa (UNISA) Grade III theory.
3. The department of Music and Theatre Studies shall hold audition to determine placement of learners in terms of practical performance and technical knowledge. This will entail:

1. Theory paper - to test candidates knowledge and application of elements of music, hence music literacy, harmony and composition marked out of 30%
2. Aural perception- ability to sing/play at sight, marked our of 20%  
3. Performance – to gauge candidate’s mastery of a performing medium and repertoire interpretation marked out of 50%

Duration of the Programme

The duration of the course shall be two academic semesters
