Bachelor of Arts Philosophy with IT

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicants must satisfy the minimum entry requirement for admission to the University.
  2. Applicants must satisfy the entry requirement for admission to the School.

 

PROGRAMME DURATION

The programme shall normally be four (4) years.

 

  PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

  1.  Courses in the programme are offered within the 3322-degree pattern as spelled out by the School of Arts and Social Sciences.

 

  1.  Courses are offered in terms of units as defined by the School.

 

  1.  There are CORE and ELECTIVE courses.  CORE courses are compulsory, while   ELECTIVE ones can be chosen by students as preferred. 

 

  1.  The normal full-time load for one academic year shall be at least 14 units but not more than 18 units..

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

By the end of the programme graduates are expected to be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a solid independent and critical thinking mindset in the evaluation of personal and societal problems. 
  2. Display skills of applying philosophical principles in public and private. 
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of how great minds have led to social, cultural, economic, and political developments in the cosmos. 
  4. Demonstrate the capability of working in various sectors of nation-building and the ability to create jobs. 
  5. Apply information technology in pursuit of philosophical goals. 
  6. Demonstrate expertise in the four basic areas of philosophy, namely logic, epistemology, metaphysics, and ethics in a way that will make them experts in philosophy. 
  7. Demonstrate ability to carry out research in philosophy and even being able to teach it at middle college levels (hopeful philosophy can be introduced in Kenyan high schools as is the case in other countries like the UK). 
  8. Show skills and ability to appreciate the place of philosophy in society and hence initiating dialogue amongst cultures. 
  9. Apply information technology in understanding the position of philosophy in society.
