Master of Arts in Geography programme intends to produce graduates who are:

• Well-grounded in the fundamentals of the earth in its entirety including the lithosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and utilization of natural resources.
• Creative and innovative with the power of imagination for work in governmental and non-governmental organizations, industry, and academia qualifying them to be strong policy practitioners.
• The consciousness of the needs and aspirations of the society and augment the sense of responsibility towards the same.
• Possess the necessary skills for teamwork in an industrial and scientific research environment.
• Competent to undertake postgraduate work in Geography and its related fields.

Admission requirements

To qualify for admission to the Master of Arts in Geography programme, candidates shall be:-

1. Holders of at least upper second class honors degree in B.Sc (Geography & Natural Resources Management), B.A. or B.ED in Geography of Maseno University or any other recognized university.
2. Holders of a lower second class honors degree of Maseno University or any other recognized University and Postgraduate Diploma of Maseno University or any other recognized University, or evidence of extensive research experience as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
3.       Pass degree with a postgraduate diploma in the relevant areas.

Duration of the Programme
The duration of the programme shall normally be two (2) academic years. Teaching methods in all units shall include lectures, field trips, seminars, tutorials, discussions, and practicals.
